Howdy all,
Today was a much slower day than yesterday and we saw a lot less activity
around the station as well. So I was pretty happy that we banded 16 birds.
There
were very few birds around. The CVWO Prothonotary Warbler researcher, Shannon
Elhers, saw at least one male PROTHONOTARY WARBLER and had a possible second
individual about 100 yards away from the first sighting or maybe it was just
the same one interested in her checking the new accomidations for them at the
park this season! They/he were located on the interior of the park along the
Cape Henry trail. She also saw two BLUE-HEADED VIREOS.
The banding station also had a few surprises. We caught our first HOODED
WARBLER of the season. A sharp looking bird! But not to be out done, we caught
a
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER that we first saw yesterday in the station. We mention
that it would be nice to catch that one because it was a sexy adult male.
Low-and-behold, we caught him today!
BEAUTIFUL!
