The Kiptopeke Songbird Station is scheduled to open by the end of the week as
migrants are already moving. The good news for the birds and the visitors and
station volunteers is that Jethro Runco is returning again. Thanks to the
Center for Conservation Biology at William & Mary, especially Dr.Bryan Watts
and
Bart Paxton, for again providing the banding permit.
Staff have been hired for the hawkwatch and hawk banding programs, to begin
Sept 1st. More details will follow about them. The Observatory is still
searching for a Monarch Program staff person.
The workshop on birds, butterflies and coastal ecology will be held at
Kiptopeke on August 23rd, from 8 a.m. to noon. To register, contact me at
Taberzz@xxxxxxx.
The Kiptopeke Challenge (Sept 20) team birding competition will have a number
of new teams entering this year. There is still plenty of time to register in
either the 24 hour, 3 hour or youth categories. If you need details, please
let me know.
