Last weekend I went to Chincoteague and had a blast. It was cold but that
did not seem to impact the birds much. Highlights of this trip where: Ross
Goose (2), Brant (18), Tundra Swan (23), Northern Gannet (5), all three
Scoter species, Snowy Egret (1), dowither (I wrote it down as a
short-billed) and Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow (1-finally :) ). The
sparrows were actually very quiet. It was hard to find them and only a few
were seen. Guess the hundreds of yellow-rumped warblers chased all other
LBJs away. There was a lot of Scoter and Loon activity out on the ocean. I
sat on the beach for about 45 minutes and saw 100s of scoters and plenty of
loons. Way cool.
