VA Birders,
On my way to check out the Sedge Wrens in Essex county, I stopped by the
drainage ponds at the intersection of Rt. 28 and the Rt. 234 bypass in
Manassas. There I found an adult Caspian Tern fishing and a Great
Egret. Fine city of Manassas birds.
I was not able to find the Sedge Wrens in Essex but it was raining
pretty hard by the time I got there so I'm not surprised. I did find a
couple Bank Swallows in a flock of Barn Swallows over a corn field along
Rt. 17 in Spotsylvania County and a Yellow-crowned Night-heron made a
nice appearance flying right along Rt. 17 in Essex County about a mile
from the Caroline County line.
