Today's (6 April) survey of Huntley (King Street Highway entrance) in Fairfax
County yielded 3 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, 4 GC Kinglets, and 3 RC Kinglets. A
Pine Warbler pair was observed in the pines near the maintenance bldg. I also
tallied 6 E. Towhees, 3 Fox Sparrows, and 1 Brown Trasher in the brush piles
created by the expansion of the "Woodcock" meadow. All the towhees were
vocalizing and one of the Foxes was singing. (I love that song). Overall,
numbers were fairly low, probably due to the wind.
For Barbara Chambers and the huntley staff: The new boxes are being accepted.
At least three bluebird pairs were actively investigating the boxes.
