I continue to see & hear Bobolinks in my neighborhood on Ebenezer Church Rd,
Rt. 779, in western Loudoun County near Bluemont. A week ago three males were
vigorously doing flight displays for at least one female in and near the fields
where they had successfully nested the previous couple of years. Unfortunately
the pasture where they were most active was mowed a week ago Sunday.
Since then I have located them in other fields but not as close to the road
making it difficult to hear or see them. Today a very vocal and active male
was right next to the road. As he flew from tree to bush to paddock fence
rails and sang he gave my wife and I a great show.
Hope he finds a female or two and mates in one of the fields that the owners
are willing to let sit for a month or two.
