The male Black-chinned Hummingbird continues at the feeder at 9 Randolph
Avenue, Cape Charles. It was present most of the day yesterday, seen in the
morning, midday, and afternoon as late as 2:00 p.m., and this morning from 7:15
through 8:30, when I had to go to work. I'll post here again on this bird
*only* if it departs the yard (or isn't seen) for a day or more; otherwise,
it's
safe to assume the bird has been seen in the past 24 hours or so.
The male Mountain Bluebird has not been seen since 0810 Sunday; it has
presumably moved elsewhere or been taken by one of the many Sharp-shinned Hawks
in
the area. Cave Swallows continue to be numerous; at least 12 were in view
over the construction area at Kiptopeke (southeast of the hawk platform)
yesterday afternoon around 1800.
