Eleven people participated in the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy's bird walk at
the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship in northwestern Loudoun
County this morning. The highlights of the 31 bird species seen included a
rather large perched 1st year Cooper's Hawk that we tried to make into a
Goshawk without success, a couple of Hermit Thrushes, and an American Tree
Sparrow. In spite of numerous attempts we did not observe any flyover Common
Loons. We walked the Farmstead Loop along with the Piney Run spur.
