The goose madness continues. I just left about 15 birders watching a
Barnacle Goose at the Joseph Hensley ball fields, about a half mile
west of the Cameron Run Regional Park complex that includes the mini
golf course. The goose was still there at 10:15.
An Alexandria police officer with the canine unit pulled up to exercise
his dog just as Larry Lynch and party arrived. I told him about the
goose and its celebrity status. He didn't seem persuaded that there was
anything special about this goose, but with a look of dismay, he
retreated to find some other location for his dog to run. Thank you to
that police officer!
The ball fields are not marked with a sign, but there are a number of
them, easily seen from Eisenhower Ave. The goose was in the upper
field, the field furthest to the west. The fields are on the south side
of Eisenhower.
