It is 12:22. About 10 minutes ago we had a Baltimore oriole stop by our
yard. He sat on a hanging birdbath in a pink crabapple tree. This bird was
very special for us-maybe the first time we have seen a Baltimore oriole in
our own yard. (there goes a pileated woodpecker) Anyway, back to the
Baltimore oriole. We have already placed an orange half out there for him,
but were not able to get photos as the camera was set up in a blind at
another window.
What is doubly special about this was the "alarm clock" ticking 4 hours and
17 minutes for the scarlet tanager to show up. This was about as close to 4
hours and 17 minutes past the note concerning the scarlet tanager being
heard in a nearby county as it could get. For us, seeing the Baltimore
oriole in the yard was rarer than seeing a scarlet tanager.
