Bob Beard observed a high flying Common Raven using a scope over the dogleg
of Dyke Marsh Sunday, Aug 13. This is a new species to Dyke Marsh; about
267 species have been recorded in this location.
A Gray Catbird nest fledged 2 young in my backyard today, Aug 14. This is
one of the few August records of Gray Catbird in the coastal plain.
On the Banshee-Reeks Field Trip Saturday, Aug 12, an Acadian Flycatcher nest
with two nestlings was located. According to Roger Clapp, this is the
latest record in the piedmont (and perhaps Virginia, but Roger knows best on
this). Also, Joe Coleman accidentally omitted Bobolink from the trip list
on that day.
