ON
George was suddenly bathed in bright lights. He squinted his small
eyes trying to adjust to the new environement. The two-legs was coming
his way. Good.
Gracie saw her chance. Her mate had provided the needed distraction.
She bolted forth from her hiding spot, jumped onto the desk where Lt.
Commander Marqusa's lunch was and snatched what she could carry. She
quickly bolted off the workspace and into the other room. In there,
she quickly found the entrance way, her mate had made into this room.
George saw Gracie jump off the desk. He knew she had gotten what she
wanted. THe two-legger was getting close to him. He bolted out of his
hiding place, jumped on a chair and with almost unthinkable strength
propelled himself to the air circulation vent high on the opposite
wall. He wriggled an squirmed and managed to squeeze his body into the
vent shaft and away from the fast approaching two-legger. Instantly
his nose told him where he could find his mate.
Not too far away, a small black box was also making it's way through
the vent system. It's small sensor inhibitor hummed preventing the
internal sensors from detecting it. It had been slowly making it's way
from it's point-of-origin, the vent shaft in the guest suite, for two
weeks. It was now where it was programmed to go. The small wheels
retracted intot he box, setting the box flat on the tube floor. A
small hatch opened. A small army of newly-hatched Talarian
hook-spiders came clamoring out of the box. They were hungry. They
could sense the vast energy flowing through the circuitry the box had
set them near. It was time to eat!
