Some Help from a New Friend Joint Log by Malachi Styles and Elys ON The young Betazoid woman closed her eyes and shifted her consciousness back to softening the pain the four Styles-Fyrstk children were experiencing. Elys knew that they needed to experience the grief that naturally accompanied their mother's death but while she was nearby there was no need for them to deal with that pain without some emotional support. She could sense their resolve to be brave even in the face of the tragedy. It was remarkable to find people so young with such strength of character and raised Elys' impression of Commodore Fyrstk and his wife. Malachi, the eldest of the Styles-Fyrstk children, was seemingly the most self-possessed of all of them. Intense telepathic and empathic emanations veritably surged forth from him blanketing his siblings. On top of that he was trying valiantly to affect an air of control over the emotions that were buffeting him too, but Elys knew better. He's perilously close to depleting his reserves of energy and he knows it but refuses to acknowledge it. He's driven to protect and help the others. Admirable, but ultimately dangerous. ~~Pull back Malachi, let me do some of the heavy lifting...you need to conserve your strength.~~ She implored telepathically. ~~But it is my duty, ma'am,~~ Malachi returned. He was feeling weak, and he must have been showing it too for his aunt to suddenly turn doctor on him. ~~I can start to let go, though. I will have to, in order to leave the station..~~ ~~I understand you feel obligated....eventually the little ones will have to be on their own but I can serve as a bridge for now. Especially if you are leaving...Wait, where are you going?~~ Elys questioned, curiously. ~~Have you not noticed one of us is missing?~~ Malachi shot back as if it was the most obvious thing. ~~No... wait. You may not know. Apparently the one that shot my mother, took off with my other brother. Rohan is a twin. Ronov is the one that is missing. I share a special link with him, so Father wants me to go with him to find Ronov.~~ Elys faltered for a second in her connection feeling the miasma of hatred, raw pain and fear for his brother that Malachi couldn't help but project into her mind by way of explanation. She quickly regrouped mentally. ~~Then it's even more important that you save your strength now...so that you can find Ronov. Come on...let me take the reins....here...I can show you how.....~~ Malachi lightly bit on his lower lip as he contemplated what the woman said. ~~You are right. But pardon me asking this... who are you anyway?~~ ~~Oh! So sorry...it didn't seem like the time for formal introductions when....when your mother was dying.~~ Elys explained. ~~I'm Elys...I'm the nanny for Dr. Compton's children aboard the Eagle. As you surely realize, I'm telepathic and empathic....I'm also familiar with loss. My mother and father were both killed in the Dominion War...when I was only 10 years old.~~ ~~I do not know Dr. Compton, but... if she is my father's chief medical officer...~~ He slowly pulled away from his siblings. He couldn't believe just how exhausted he was suddenly feeling as well. ~~You might want to take a nap and have a meal before doing any mental searching for Ronov. I'm sure you know how much energy telepathic connections like the one you've been maintaining can drain.~~ Malachi again leaned his head back against the wall. He hoped Terra wouldn't start fawning all over him again.~~I am aware, and yes. I shall eat something aboard the shuttle to restore my energy. Thank you, again for your help...Elys... right?~~ ~~Yes, it's Elys....May the Jalara Guardians guide your quest for your little brother Malachi...I'll help here as long as I can.~~ ~~It is good to know you are there to help.~~ As he finished that thought, Lukas called to him to leave. He again kissed his sisters and brothers and headed with Lukas to the shuttle bay. OFF
