Subject: [USS Athena] "Who Are the Borzine?"

This is a joint log with Erei'Rionv Ronov and with permission from Admiral Toran

ON

The tour of the Athena, and the opening talks with the Starzen went very
well. Both Admiral Detalya and Chancellor Sanfer were very attentive when
Commander Svonn went over all the data Starfleet had on the Elders and their
bases. The Vulcan conveniently left out the part where they had already been
to
this particular base, in the forbidden area, but more concentrated on the base
they had already visited.
"I quite look forward to seeing this base first-hand," Chancellor Sanfer
commented.
"As do I," Jazmine agreed. "I wasn't commanding officer when they found
the
first base, so this will be just as new to me, Chancellor."
Admiral Detalya was about to chime in with his feelings when the comm
signal
sounded. "Bridge to Captain Mergahn."
    "Mergahn here," Jazmine answereed.
"We have an urgenct message for Admiral Detalya from his command ship."
"By all means put it through, Ensign," Jazmine ordered. She looked to
Detalya. "You can take it over at the cornere station, or we can just put it on
speaker."
"Uh...on speaker would be fine, Captain. Thank you," Detalya acknowledged.
When Jazmine nodded, Svonn touched a countrol on the table. THe speaker
came to life with the admiral's message. "Armiral! Cruiser 87 has just sent
out a distress call. The Borzine have crossed the border in force and are
attacking."
"Order neighboring sector cruisers to get there, if they're not already
enroute. Get the light drive warmed up," Detalya ordered. "We will jump the
minute my ... the chancellor's shuttle touches the flight deck."
    "Aye, sir."
Detalya nodded, and Svonn cut trh transmission. He looked to Jazmine. "I
am sorry to cut this short, Captain, but the Borzine are ... difficult at
best."
He looked to Chancellor Sanfer.
"The border is an easy five-day journey," Sanfer commented. "By the time
we
get there..."
"What else are we going to do," Detalya asked. "I knew this treaty with
them was too good to be true."
Jazmine exchanged glances with Ronov and then Admiral Toran. She could see
it in Ronov's eyes, and then a slight nod from Toran was all she needed. They
were all thinking the same thing.
"Admiral Detalya," Jazmine asked. "Where is the Borzin border?"
An image of the Starzen space suddenly appeared above the table they were
all sitting at. Detalya and Sanfer exchanged glances of surprise and envy.
The
Borzine border was already highlighted as well as their current position.
"This area is what our data shows to be the Borzine Border," Commander
Svonn
told the group.
"Why yes. That's correct," Detalya agreed.
"At maximum warp, the journey will take five point three-three hours,
Captain."
Sanfer and Detalya exchanged glances. Jazmine let them soak that in for a
moment before speaking up.
"Can we offer you a ... lift?" She asked. "We cannot actively participate
in any battle, but we would allow you to use Athena in a command operations
with
your forces, and we can provide medical treatment."
Sanfer and Detalya exchanged glances once again. "And you could get us
there in five hours?"
"Five point three-three hours," Svonn corrected.
"Yes," Jazmine acknowledged, trying not to laugh at the Vulcan's
correction. She glanced to the chief engineer. "We could even take one of your
cruisers in tow. Correct chief?"
"With the size of them, ma'am," Lt. Chekov said, "We can take both in tow,
and it would probably add fifteen minutes to the trip."
The two Starzen men were quite astonished at this. Detalya looked back to
Jazmine. "How can I refuse. What do we need to do."
"Lt. Chekov will inform you how to position the two cruisers," Jazmine
answered. "We'll get under way as soon as their ready."
"Captain," Svonn spoke up. "I respectfully request to be left behind to
get
started on our research of the base. I will make cetain you would have adequate
science coverage should you require it, though it sounds as if you should not.'
Jazmine looked to the starzen delegation. Both Detalya and Sanfer nodded
their approval.

"They can even use my ship as a base of operations," Detalya offered,
seeing
as he would not be using it.
"Good. Mr. Svonn, get your team ready. Take a runabout and an
attack-shuttle." Jazmine looked to Admiral Toran. "Admiral, what is your wish?

TO accompany us or to accompany the team to the Elder base?"
"I think I would be better suited going with you," Toran replied. She was
a
skilled negotiator, and she saw the possibility of the Athena acting in that
capacity.
"Okay, people," Jazmine said, rising. "Lets move. Ronov, could you please
set up a command area for Admiral Detalya?"
    "Ie, Rekkhai," Ronov responded.
Svonn tapped in his orders for the personnel to report to the shuttle bay.
In the list of recipients was Arrain Jhu'Rhiana and Erei'Arrain T'Shana.
