OFF
TO everyone, we will soon be getting to know a new player.  As soon as Captain Mergahn approves, we will be introducing T'Shana Tubed to the crew.  For now, I am sending her a copy of any posts, so she can start to know the crew, also.

Several weeks had passed since the encounter with the Starzen.  Sensor probes had been launched, and Commander Svonn had confirmed that the planets they would be interested in, were indeed, off limits according to the Starzen.  The question remained, do the try and negotiate with the Starzen, or do they make use of the cloaking devices on the attack shuttles.  That was how Ronov wanted it.

Erei'Riov Ronov sat in the command chair aboard the Athena.  It was evening, now, and Captain Mergahn was off-shift.  The OPs officer approached Ronov.

"Sub-commander," she said, using the Federation term for his rank.  "This communique' was relayed to you vian the Romulan colony."  She handed him a PADD.  Ronov had to use his command code to access the message.

The first part of the message was the usual updates, which came at least once a week, giving Ronov news from home.  Information he could pass on to the crew.  The second part of the message was much more interesting.  The Empire was trying to develop it's own slip-stream communicator.  Starfleet had given them carte-blanche to use the one the Eagle had set up for communicating with the Athena, but (as Ronov knew there would be) there were those in the Galae who wanted to prove they were every bit as proficient as such communications as the Fleeters were.   Ronov was more interested in seeing them  develop a drive system equal to the slip-stream. Though Starfleet  had made the building of the slip-stream runabout, Toira, they kept the sip-stream technology pretty close to themselves.  Even thought Rihannsu officers  were trained on the drive system, there was no way information concerning the system was going to find it'a way back to the Empire.  It would not be until the two great powers were one, that they would fully share technology.

Some things never change.
