It is four years since the March 2011 Japan earthquake that devastated
great parts of Japan and set off the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear disaster.
Some of the effects still linger; of which the main concern is the
radio-active material that spread into the Pacific Ocean and other areas.
Prof Motoyoshi Ikeda will speak about the disaster, the after effects and
also the most recent findings and models generated; including give a brief
on the role of the Oceanographic Society of Japańs Working Group in terms
of notifying affected countries and how to contain and manage the
radio-active threat
This talk is open to the public; there is no entry fee. Anyone
with an interest in science is welcome to join the S2A3. Current
S2A3 Membership Fee R150 - forms available after talk at the podium
front desk after the talk. Refreshments at 18h15.
