Jeannie and Bob,
What a find. Only one Red-naped Sapsucker in eBird for Douglas County, and they
are not even on the Umpqua Valley seasonal bar charts. What great pictures,

We walked at Mildred Kanipe County Park yesterday afternoon (3-14-17) and saw
a male Red-naped Sapsucker at 3pm (ID verified by Matt). As you cross the
bridge over the small stream on the way to the pond from the main parking
lot, the bird was on a tree about 100 yards north of the pond just inside the
fenced area. It spent a considerable amount of time on the tree, and it was
still there when we returned from our walk about an hour later; the tree is
damaged on one side and there are a number of sapsucker holes in it. Maybe
he'll hang around.
