formation, but they were not starlings. Their wings whistled as they flew
by, and the flight was very direct, not undulating. I did not hear any
flight calls. They were also a Grosbeak-sized bird, bigger than the smaller
finches or sparrows. This was naked eye viewing but they flew right past me
in my narrow driveway, maybe 20 feet away. What were the whistlers?
