Eric Clough and I briefly birded Thorn Prairie yesterday afternoon and evening
in Douglas County, NW of Diamond Lake. En route, we saw a black GRAY WOLF with
a radio collar cross Hwy 138, heading north. This was between Diamond Lake and
Lemolo Lake and is at the northern range of the Rogue Pack (female is black,
but not radio-collared?), but could also be OR25, a single black male. Very
cool!
In any case, Eric and I heard DUSKY FLYCATCHER at Thorn Prairie, but no GT
Towhees or hummingbirds. There were 2 COMMON POORWILLS at dusk at the upper
(east) end of Thorn Prairie where NF-700 begins.
