Hello All,

On Saturday the Umpqua Valley Audubon Society led a Field Trip to Bland
Mountain outside of Days Creek Oregon. We had 13 participants, including a
few newcomers. Though the hike was a bit harder and longer than expected,
some of us managed to get looks at our target species California Towhee. We
also stopped by Herbert's Pond in Canyonville on the way back north. For
anyone driving through on I-5, get a lunch to go at the excellent Ken's
Sidewalk Cafe and then drive out to Herbert's Pond for some easy birding.
It's just the kind of little scrubby puddle that is sure to host some
rarity at some point in time.
