Dear TV Freelancer, 1. Numbers Firstly, just a little update on our growing community. TVFL now has 4,200 registered members using our databases, and 3,000 on this mailing list. Thanks so much for your support and keep spreading the word. And this leads directly to... 2. We need help Our growing size, and the current spotlight on freelance issues, means we need help to keep growing. As you already know, TVFL is run on a voluntary basis by and for TV freelancers, and in order to keep forward momentum we could do with some extra hands, eyes and ears. This could mean as little as checking and releasing new postings in our forum or databases on an infrequent basis, or providing occasional content for the website or mail-outs. Any knowledge of, access to, and willingness to use web authoring software such as Dreamweaver would also be much valued. If you can spare any time at all to help out, please email us at <mailto:info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 3. CV clinic TVFL's sister site, the Escape Route, is holding a one-off CV clinic with careers coach Jill Dean on Friday 21st October in London, aimed at those considering reversioning their CV either to look for work outside TV, or moving forward within the industry. This is in direct response to the feedback received at an earlier meeting in London. It will be first-come first-served, with half-hour individual sessions, so please visit the site at <http://www.tvescaperoute.co.uk> www.tvescaperoute.co.uk for more information. 4. The best employers Broadcast Freelancer is compiling a list of the top production companies to work for in the UK, and they would like to know who YOU rate as the best. We reckon the results should make pretty interesting reading. We are talking indies (e.g. Tiger Aspect, Talkback Thames) or production departments within broadcasters (e.g. BBC drama, Granada Entertainment). BF also have a Sony PSP to give away to one lucky contributor. To have your say, and be in with a chance of winning the PSP, email them your name, your job title and the name of the company or department that you think is the best. Please put 'PSP Competition' in the subject header of your email and send it to: <mailto:editor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> editor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Your name will be then be put into a hat to WIN the Sony PSP. Closing date for this competition is Friday 23 September. Also please remember that you can (anonymously) give your previous or current employer a rating - and see how other freelancers have rated them - in our own employer database at <http://www.tvfreelancers.org.uk> www.tvfreelancers.org.uk. That's it for now - more to come as and when, Best wishes TV Freelancers.
