(Katina is with District 5) * Neighborhood Enhancement Project * It will target Clifton Heights because stats show that to be a particularly troubled area. * It will last for 90 days scheduled to begin in February * It will be a coordinated effort by various city depts. * It will focus on safety issues, blight issues, and quality-of-life issues such as graffiti, litter, unkept property, etc. * It will need neighborhood involvement (for example, complaints about problems). * it will encourage development. * IMPORTANT: We in U Heights will have to mobilize to insure that pressure on Clifton Heights does not cause problems to move into our area. * The organization Give Back had a project in our business district last Saturday * The effort involved 80 Give Back volunteers, and Give Back spent $8,000.00 on plants, etc. * Landscaping included the old St. George Church and the median in front of Hughes High school * They painted park benches and parking meters. * MAJOR CLEAN-UP SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6 * Starts with meeting on Clifton Ave. in front of the new Stratford Heights student development at 8:30 am * It lasts from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm * One group will clean up Calhoun Street. * Daniel Lewis will lead up a group that will target the wooded areas on the U-Heights part of McMicken. * Lunch provided. * PLEASE GET INVOLVED. * Free Quality of Life Team Training * September 27, 2007 6:30 pm - 8:30 PM * RSVP by September 21 (Phone: 513-352-3640) (email: christa.criddle@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) * This will be training on proven strategies for dealing with neighborhood quality-of-life issues such as graffiti, litter, unkept properties, etc. * Block Captains: Park Beautification Project for Belleview Park on September 29 * Starts 9:00 am * Bring shovels * PLEASE GET INVOLVED.
