Subject: CUF stuff

Hello gang--
just wanted to review with everyone our key action points from the December
2nd meeting.

1. Gayle will create a paper form for addresses and type of complaint o use
for the police. This is an attempt to streamline the process of complaints
to the police.
2. I will emphasize to the membership the usefulness fo going to the
Citizens on Patrol meetings the first Thursday of every month. I went this
week on Thursday. The police were there for a solid 1 hour period. That,
in my mind, is unfettered access. People should be able to take advantage
of this.
3. I did ask that the COP group consider becoming the "enforcement" arm of
the neighborhood association. I asked Sandra Wilson if she would give a
monthly update at each meeting about the successes that the police and
community groups are having working together. This might streamline the
process and allow for tracking of progress on hot spots and problems. This
might be a great asset to the police when we need to point out nuissance
properties.
4. I will ask the police to be there 15 minutes early and remind our own
membership that they are there early so we can talk to them about individual
issues. Another great community outreach.
5. Craig is working on getting the old newsletters into an computer format
(aka jpeg or whatever Kinko's can do) so that we can start an archive.
6. I will contact the sign company for the table banner. It will run about
$300. If there is enough leftover in the marketing funds, I will also look
for a wall banner to hang.
7. As a group, we voted the mural down on McMicken and Mcmillan for reasons
of legibility, location, and asking for a more basic design. dennis will
talk to Suzanne Fisher and encourage her to play with alternate ideas.
8. We are apporaching the year end for NSP funds. Craig and I will meet
this weekend to see where we fall with amounts available. We will buy the
banner and if there is a sizeable amount leftover in beautifcation, we will
also give Paul an amoun to spend on rakes, trash pickers, mulch shovels,
wheelbarrow, etc.
9. We voted to send a letter to Matt Bourgeois and CHCURC to be more
effective in preventing tail-gating and parking/trash drop off/parying on
the lawn on the parcel between Calhoun and McMillan by posting no parking
signs and engaging UC Police (Dennis). That is CHCURC property, and we are
part of CHCURC. We realize part of is owned by the Arby's guy, but the
property that CHCURC controls should have signs for towing. The present
system has not worked and during football season this turns into an eyesore
with trash littering the entire property. Can UC police and Cincinnati
police help us, esp the UC police?
10. We proposed to do the January doldrums party on January 24th. Peter is
asking Father Al if we can use the St Monica St George parrish hall.
11. We are donating $250 to the Clifton Senior Services center. (Linda-- if
youneed the address, I have the paper).
12. We are "donating" $500 to Deaconess for the use of the space for
meetings. (Dennis)
13. Julie Murray will go wih Rob to the Business Association meeting on
Thursday January 22nd. Without a thriving business district, our community
goes no where. We will go to try to help them, and become more familiar
with them so we may work more cooperatively.
14. Sally is working on a letter to send to Traffic and Engineering (Mr.
Childress) and to Ethel Cogan for NEP and the City Manager so that we can
voice some frustration about the lack of signs and enforcement of no parking
to the curb. I went to the COP meeting and Sandra could not give me exact
streets where it is a problem. She told me everything south of McMillan
between Ravine and Ohio.
Sally- in an effeort to make this more tangible and to give them targets, I
have some street addresses. I will also work with Lisa Johnson to get more
locations. Hopefully, everyone else can think of places in the region noted
by Sandra and we can add them to the list.
Sally will bring the letter to the next meeting of the Board so that we may
all read it before sending. This is a great action item and is about
accounatability and making the streets safer.
Streets: Victor at Emming (pointing north), Emming at Victor (pointing
west), Victor a Warner (pointing north), Stratford at Klotter (pointing
north), Stratford at Warner (pointing south), Stratford at Warner (pointing
north), Victor at Warner (pointing north), Victor at Warner (pointing south)

15. Rob will start making flyers for the January 20th event with Governor
Williams from 7 to 8 pm before the official CUF meeting.

See everyone in January!!

Rob
