Great! Common Sense rules the day - will use the recommended setting with
middle 'C' ;-)
Thanks again James.

Material 2014
Hi John,
The sign ____3 is a four tally mark with stroke (five tally marks). The _____
would be just five marks. The two are equivalent.
Using UEB for mathematics shows some typical use, but does not rule out either
sign.
Note, if you try reading a line of
_____ _____ _____ ____
and compare with
____3 ____3 ____3 ____
You'll soon see which is easier at speed!
I hope this helps.
With best regards,
James.

Importance: High
Dear Colleagues,
In the Guidelines for Technical Material 2014, Tally Marks can be either:
____3
or
_____
But in UEB for Mathematics only the first option is given - does this mean that
the guidelines on tally marks in the Guideline for Technical Material is
'obsolete' insofar as _____ is concerned?
Many thanks.
