Hello there!

Some days ago I reported an error while trying to build e-uae with DirectFB support only (no X video). Well, I just built the latest snapshoot (looks like I was really emerging a previous pre-release) and everything went dandy. I have it running on DirectFB, withou the need to load Xwindows lo have an emulated AMIGA enviroment! Thanks Ritcher!

There's only a thing that makes my emulated e-uae-based enviroment slightly inferior to a real AMIGA: a perfect V-sync-ed video mode for apps/games that require smooth scrolling routines. Yes, I know e-uae has gfx_vsync = true, but activating that option makes the system SLOW, not responsing and eventually hanging (Mac Mini G4 PPC here). I think e-uae makes vysnc in an os-friendly manner if the video mode allows it, without the need of that option, but I would need a perfect PAL video mode in /etc/fb.modes with perfect PAL timings, and compatible with the ATI RADEON 9200 card that comes inside this little G4 beastie boy. (Amiga is mainly a PAL system...). Then I can use fbset "name-of-the-mode" to set that yummy 50Hz pleasure and get smooth graphics (in AMIGA graphics mode). I believe not all monitors can do 50Hz nowadays, but as for the one I am using to experiment, can do it more or less flawlessly (I experimented with this under MAC OSX time ago using swithxres). I believe it can be archieved with e-uae, and I really hope someone can help me with this. The tutorial that Amir posted at amiga.org has given me the idea of building little yet perfect embedded Amiga systems using E-uae and Gentoo, so we can get portable Amigas all over the world. I will also write a complement for Amir tutorial of how to archive it, if I can finally get it done! We are ALMOST there...

Thank you, E-uae crew! :-D
