Last year I managed to compile and run it after some complications, but
without GUI, if I remember correctly.
I stopped following the development at some time when the list went
silent. Your E-Mail today reminded me to give it a try again (now on
Debian Squeeze).
I just finished compiling it with SDL gui (QT didn't work) and I will
give it a try again.
