Thank you everyboby for your comments.
Although I had already numbered the files with leading zeros, on closer
inspection the first ones I thought were numbered EP001-EP015
were in fact shown as EP-001 - EP-015. This made all the difference.As soon as
I deleted the hyphen everything is now numbered
sequentially and the slide show is also in order.
Silly me! Sorry to bother you all
