THE FIRST DAY ABOARD In her quarters, Moonshadows to Ennein was configuring her environment. She had managed to coax the wall fixture program to give her two hooks, where she could sling a covered hammock made of the incredibly strong, beautiful cloths called âusefulâ from her world. She looked up as her terminal DINGED and noted she had been scheduled for yet another physical... another doctor who did know you found a puled at the base of the tail.... She made a mental note of the time and decided to head for the bridge, to familiarize herself with her station. She noted she was on deck 9 and headed for the turbo lift. She reached the bridge level.... The status strip on her wall flashed YELLOW ALERT and she decided to hurry things up - bolted and loped gracefully to her station. Tay was at the helm, an officer with Captainâs pips had the center chair. No time for introductions, she reported her name and as being on station. Communications were exchanging transmissions with what sounded like a Klingon, who was demanding Razerwolf drop out of warp. She queued up her security menus and quickly began preparing for possible boarding, if a battle ensued and they lost. Klingons, on her first day! She sent rapid text messages to all security substations to put them on alert. The ship dropped out of warp. Surprisingly, the acting commanding officer announced she had the bridge... what was HE thinking? He rose and left the bridge. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Ensign Tay announced she had not been able to drop shields as engineering seemed to have taken the initiative.. Moonshadows logged it and said she would forward it to the Captain to deal with. She had a feeling a crackdown in discipline was going to happen, and it would be just too bad to those already doing their jobs. Moonshadows monitored transporter activity, one on, one off... no invasion. She calmed down and began to set up the console so that the menus would suit her when she logged in. She noted a lag in response time and logged a request for it to be checked. HEr tail lashed unconsciously as she grumbled about the mishmash of protocols. She paused as the General Announcing System came to life, and the Captain introduced himself... he was terse and to the point. ******************************************************************************
