Manager positions. Parkland Institute is a socially-engaged Alberta network
that applies a political economy perspective to understand public issues so
that the forces of change can be harnessed for the common good. Parkland

These positions will be located at the Parkland Institute in Edmonton on
the university campus.

Working closely with, and under the supervision of, the Associate Director
and Director, the Research Managers will:

   -

   Set Parkland's research priorities and annual research agenda in
   conjunction with other staff and the Research Advisory Committee
   -

   Research and write policy briefs, research papers, and reports
   -

   Identify research funding opportunities including government, academic,
   foundation and private sources, and develop, write and submit funding
   proposals
   -

   Build, coordinate, and maintain Parkland’s province-wide and national
   research networks
   -

   Build and maintain relationships with Parkland’s partners (internal and
   external) and funders
   -

   Coordinate the review and editing of all Parkland research
   -

   Provide financial management of individual research projects and liaise
   with the Associate Director about the overall research and organizational
   budgets
   -

   Write articles and opinion pieces for newspapers, the Parkland Institute
   website, social media, and other publications
   -

   Give public presentations and speak at conferences, symposia and to the
   media on research-related topics
   -

   Recruit, coordinate, and supervise research contractors, student
   researchers, interns, and volunteers
   -

   Work as part of the Parkland board and staff team in strategic planning
   of Parkland's activities, including networking, fundraising, outreach and
   public programming

The successful candidate will possess:

   -

   A minimum of a Master's degree in a related field
   -

   Excellent networking, coordination and interpersonal skills
   -

   Ability to research policies and procedures and find answers with little
   to no guidance; knowledge of university procedures would be an asset
   -

   A strong background in public policy analysis and writing, ideally in
   the political economy of Alberta
   -

   Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability
   to speak and write efficiently write for both popular and academic audiences
   -

   Familiarity with the progressive research community in Alberta or
   demonstrated ability to become familiar with it

In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff agreement, these
positions have an appointment of three years, with the possibility of
extension, and offers a comprehensive benefits package and annual salary
range of $55,043 - $69,935.
