On more than on occasion, the National Weather Service has switched up their
method of reporting temperatures and weather conditions, and TuneTracker
Systems has compensated in our software to accommodate it. When we did that
last, in System 5.2 earlier this year, some of our older systems still seemed
to be able to pull in weather data for awhile, but (and here we can only
speculate) now that NWS is fully moved over onto their new system, the weather
retrieval feature in all pre-5.2 systems no longer finds online conditions.
Blame it on the shifting sands at NWS!
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to do a “patch” to resolve this issue on our
older systems...which will still run fine, just won’t retrieve weather
data...so if you want to continue doing temperature announcements, it’ll
require an upgrade to System 5.2. In 5.2, you just put in your local zip code
and airport code (no selecting from an exhaustive list), and the system takes
care of the rest. In our experience, every area we’ve tried is supported, but
if you want us to try your local zip code and airport code before upgrading,
send them along and we can try them for you.

page, which will make the prospect of upgrading welcome in other respects as
