Hi Leif,

I took a look at my notcher, indeed it's for the 3.5", but it's to convert
the 1.44 to 2.88 disks.
I don't recall, but I think there was much better options by the time the
2.88 was to become popular. Zip drives? USB drives?

I think I tried (long time ago) to convert a bunch of cheap 720's to 1.44
(by using my soldering iron to burn a hole) The 720's came from Bi-Way
(remember that store?). It did not work... indeed, the density was not the
same.

I know for fact that the low density 5.25's use a totally different type of
magnetic media than the high density In the security field, magstripe cards
came in 2 flavours, low coercivity and high coercivity.
High coercivity was dark, while low was brown in colour. I believe the
disks had the same shift in material, not 100% sure.

Cheers,
Josh

Is that even possible with the 3.5"s? I assumed the media was
different densities or something.

I have one for the 5.25", not for sale though ;-)

did they ever notch the 3.5's to make the 720's into 1.44's?
