I don't know if anyone watches halt and catch fire on Amc, but they showcased a
room full of c64 with 1702 monitors using them to code as well as online room
chats and games. There were tons of references to the c64 and what it can do as
well as a mention of compuserve .
It's a great series, I suggest watching it from the beginning.
