The backup battery should prevent RAM contents from being lost on power down.

Check out STK12C68 chip (8K) as a better alternative.

I used this chip for Vic-20 MegaCart and for a NVRam 8K cart design for Vic-20.

It looks like a basic RAM Cartridge about 16k....which mean it is wiped out
each time you pull it out or cut the power off. why do you want it and not a
regular type RAM expander?
