The "New Moon Mothing and Beer Tasting at the Farm Event" was once again fun and educational. Ten people gathered to socialize, look at moths and sample some excellent beers. John (Buck) Lewis, the Smithsonian Entomologist who recently moved to the area brought a show and tell. It included spread specimens from Thailand that were collected in the 1930's. Hugh will be glad to know that the number of moth species outnumbered the varieties of beer. Some of the interesting moths include. Unid. Tortricidae - Tortricid Moth Allagrapha aerea - Unspotted Looper Moth - Hodges#8898 Leucania sp. - maybe L. ursula - Ursula Wainscot - Hodges#10461 All were In Jonesborough, TN (Washington County) on 5/20/12. The next New Moon Mothing/Beer Event is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 19th. Let me know if you would like to be added to the invite list. Larry McDaniel
