The book by Howell and Charny does cover skippers but with pictures only of
adults. cwm

Rita Venable recently showed one of these to me and while the book looked
interesting, it didn't have anything on skippers. I think it was the one with
the Monarch on the cover.

If you haven't seen them yet, go to Amazon books and search for "Butterflies of
Alabama." The first is by Paulette Ogard with incredible photos by Sara Bright.
It is large (almost 500 pps), but has pictures of all stages. The other is by
Mike Howell and Vitaly Charny. It is more of a field guide and reads like the
book on the butterflies of the Great Lakes. Although specifically geared toward
Alabama, they will provide great information on the South generally and TN and
MS specifically. Craig M.
