Hello all;

First an update on the 4 Monarch caterpillars I reported earlier in my
front yard. They have all disappeared. I'd heard that butterflyweed,
Asclepias tuberosa, doesn't offer the poisonous advantages of other
milkweeds and can only surmise that some bird found them and chowed
down. On a more upbeat note, I stopped by the house briefly this
afternoon and noticed a female Monarch flying around the garden. Sure
enough, she found my one butterflyweed plant and proceeded to lay more
eggs! Hopefully this outcome will be better.

My pipevine out back now has at least 7 Pipevine Swallowtail
caterpillars on it. Haven't done a thorough search, so there may be
more.
