Here are a male and a black variety female Tiger Swallowtail in a courtship dance. They started at treetop level and flew together following the winding road. (Maybe thermals off the gravel road?). Then they dipped down into the grass, twisting and turning about for a while. Then soared back up past the trees to the sky above treetop level. I watched a West Virginia White and a Zebra Swallowtail square off. Flying at each other & circling each other. Little David WV White kept up the harassment until Goliath Zebra simply flew away.
