A Southern Pearly-eye, http://mlbierly.smugmug.com/Butterflies-2010/Satyrs-and-Wood-Nymphs/Southern -Pearly-eye-Enoida/13743905_Kr75n#1005156216_jJuro, was observed at Warner Park Nature Center, Nashville, Davidson County, on September 12, 2010. Julius Basham says, "it is a Southern Pearly-eye. The best field mark is the continuous orange coloration at the end of the antennas, all the way to the tip. The other two Tennessee species would have a black band, out near the tip. The Southerns are almost always found in the presence of cane and/or Shagbark Hickory." According to BAMONA, there is no recorded record for this species for Davidson County on their web site though that does not mean that it does not occur regularly. Take the Delaware Skipper in Davidson County, none recorded on that site until in 2009 (one record) and now there are three records on four dates in 2010 in Davidson County.
