May 29, 2009. Kentucky Manor, 5211 Kentucky Avenue, Nashville, Davidson County, TN 360934N (36.15944) and 0865102W (-86.85055) Another surprise today (I like this type of surprise) was a Painted Lady who interrupted the garden work. This was the 13th species for the Manor for the season (digitals attached). After lengthy times of sitting around and flying short distances, it was seen feeding on zinnias and lantana (both red and yellow). It was amazing how it "disappeared" when it closed its wings. The day was overcast and near 70 F with butterfly activity little. The only other 'fly sightings were two Cabbage Whites. Two Southern Pink Moths, Pyrausta inornatalis, was seen at the Manor at dusk.
