Hello fellow "lepidopterists"! I just heard from Tom Row, the president of the UT Arboretum Society (in Oak Ridge), and he said July 31 is a go for the Moth-er's Night Out! :) It will start at 7:30 p.m. with a short presentation on moths (and a bit about butterflies), I might as well put all these moth photos I've been taking to good use! Then around 8:00 we will go out and check the sheets to see what critters come to visit. This should be an excellent opportunity to see lots of moths since the area is surrounded by forests. I have done this with one sheet at a near-by science camp for years and have had great success. I can bring 2 black lights and sheets, we'll probably need at least 2 more. Those of you who have done this on a larger scale, if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing from you. If you live in the Oak Ridge / west Knoxville area (or if you would like to come here for a visit), I'd love to have you come help with your expertise. If you might be able attend this event, please let me know. My goal is to try to get more parents and their kids outdoors to learn about the fascinating creatures around us! :) Thanks! Kris Light
