[TN-Butterflies] Meeman-Shelby Forest Count (and FOYs)

First, sorry for all the copies of the results on the Reelfoot Lake count 
report.  It didn't appear to be pasting, so I tried several times, but they 
actually were there when I sent it.

 

Here are the results from the Meeman-Shelby Forest Count on July 3rd:

1. Meeman-Shelby Forest, TN. Yr. 5, 35.35°, -90.0167°, center at Meeman-Shelby 
S.P. Visitor Center, 910 Riddick Rd., Millington. See 2006 report for habitats. 
Habitat changes since last year: Low field at Eagle Lake WMA was not mowed 
completely this year, but a large clover field that is normally very good was 
mowed just before the count. 03 July 2010; 0930-1730 hrs; sun AM 76-100%, PM 
76-100%; 81-93°F; wind 5-10 mi/hr. 9 observers in 1 party. Total party-hours 8; 
total party-miles on foot 3. Observers: M. Baker, K. Branum, C. Frechette, J.

Grass Skipper sp. 1. Total 42 species, 974 individuals. Field Notes: 1Very 
early appearance. 



 

 

The most notable species seen was Dainty Sulphurs of which 3 were observed.  
This is very early in the season to see them.
