[TN-Bird] owl at the bird bath

My sister was up early for coffee this morning and saw one of our resident
Great Horned owls at the bird bath. She said it was dipping its head down
repeatedly and appeared to be drinking (it has been hot and dry lately). She
thought it was a cat at first, with white under the throat.
We haven't heard the adults much this year but for several weeks in June and
early July it would fly into the same tree at dusk and we'd hear the
juvenile's odd begging cry. Some nights two birds would fly in - I assumed
adult and
young. The begging cry sounded like a hoarse Towhee to me at first.
