Carol
It sounds to me like there are two possible answers.  

#One is that you are experiencing a pretty normal summer migration of 
immature, as well as adult birds that have completed their nesting choirs.

#Two is that you are making whiskey; buying all that sugar and pretending you 
are feeding it to the hummers.  You clever lady.
