The last such I known of along the Norfolk-Southern Railway (which
parallels 11E) was the General Mills flour mill in Johnson City, which
took in six cars of wheat from out west to grind to flour once a week,
but which is now closed. Too bad, it gave a chance for some
midwesterners from Minnesota to come down here and escape their winters.
Don Miller's theory that following the tracks may be following what
worked before could explain it, but as we conjecture, remember the bird
has been in Chattanooga for several years, it's likely dispersal point
for this area. Has it been seen in the Knoxville area?
