May 14,2007 Shelby County Wolf River Area, Wolf River Blvd. This am I was birding for about an hour between 8:15-9:15 and early on while standing quietly on the paved path, I spotted a yellow billed cuckoo (FOS). He quietly hopped from branch to branch letting me see him from all angles. I was probably 12 feet from him and he was in a small tree almost eye level. The rest of my time I saw the usual indigo buntings, grey gnatcatcher, red winged blackbirds so that was the highlight of my day except for right as I was walking towards my car (parked in the lot off of Wolf River), I saw a coyote!! He got sight of me and turn and fled but I got a look through my binoculars. That is a first for me on the Wolf River!
