[TN-Bird] Wren housing

This has nothing to do with posting about special bird sightings. But I
would like some opinions or advice here.

One of my very favorite backyard birds here are the pair of resident
Carolina Wrens. They provide me with lots of loud singing early in the
morning, and
watching their noisy, nosy, always curious nature is something I truly enjoy.
I have watched and photographed them over the years as they nested at the
base of a tree, in my peat moss bag, in the wren house, and various other
places.

The other day I watched as both the male and female built a very fine nest-
in my new hanging basket of geraniums. They picked a lovely spot to build
that was already landscaped nicely :) I wasn't sure they were actually going to

move in.

I was out watering plants tonight, and pinching back petunia's and
geranium's. I was surprised to see there was one of the wrens, sitting on the
nest in
the basket. It flew out almost right into my face! I peeked in and there were
4 little wren eggs nestled in the perfect nest.

My dilemma is what to do now. I would happily give up the basket to the
wrens. But if I quit watering the hanging geranium, the plant will quickly die
in
the heat, and the shelter for the wrens will be gone.

So, I gently watered around the outside of basket, trying not to get the
nest wet. That way I could at least keep the plant alive.

I am sure some of you have had this same problem, and I was wondering what
you have done. As much as I like those colorful blooming geraniums, I love
those little Carolina Wrens more!
