Birders, Just for information we have been living here full-time since 2003 and some years had no Pine Siskins. At other times we would have 2 to 6 for brief times. Right now with no exaggeration we have at least 200 with nearly as many Goldfinches which we have in big numbers every year. We have two stationary Sawyer log feeders and two thistle feeders and spread some mixed stuff on the ground. All feeders are swarmed, ground covered and nearby treelimbs hanging full with several on three different bird baths. The air is more like a bee swarm than birds. We have 4 regular Purple Finches and 4 House Finches every few days along with all the other regulars. This is the first year we have not yet seen a Fox Sparrow and don't know why. We usually have 2 or 3 operating at the same time. About 3 weeks ago we had at least 100 Cedar Waxwings and a larger flock of Robins which swarmed in to clean the Dogwood berries at the front of the house while the finch invasion was in progress at the back. We have seen that other people have had good numbers of Siskins this year also. Good birding to all. J. N.
