backyard and woods, west Knox County, Tues, 22 May 2007
WILSON'S WARBLER, 1 singing, 23rd yard-warbler this year, 32nd
yard-warbler in almost 5.5 years here, yard bird #150
Only regular warblers missing on the yardlist now are Mourning,
Swainson's, both waterthrushes and YB Chat.
Other highlights:
American Redstart, 1 female quietly working the woods further
lending to speculation that they may be nesting
Summer Tanager, 1 has been piti-tucking constantly for 4 days now
have never bred here
Scarlet Tanager, 1 singing male in hot pursuit of a female and
engaging in some suspicious behavior on Monday morning (21 May)
he followed her into a bunch of leaves where I lost sight of them
momentarily also have never confirmed breeding here but that looked
mighty suspiciously like copulation
