Tess Cumbie (Buladean, N.C.) and Bryan Stevens (Hampton, TN) found a Willow
Flycatcher near the National Guard Armory in Stoney Creek, Elizabethon
(Carter County, TN) on Saturday, June 22.
The bird was calling and offered several good looks. The Armory is located in
an industrial park that is located on what was once known as the "Old County
Farm." The sighting is encouraging since Willow Flycatchers are apparently
still making their home in the vicinity despite considerable development in
the past couple of years.
The bird was found as part of the Summer Bird Count by the Lee & Lois Herndon
Chapter TOS.
Bryan Stevens,
Hampton, TN
