[TN-Bird] Why White-wings???

Hi all,
I just have a simple question that's been nagging me for the past few days. Why
are the majority of scoters being reported White-wings and not Surf or Black?
I'm sure others besides me would like to hear an answer, so if you could reply
via the listserv that would be great.
